Getting started
Create your account, understand the three account types and place your first order.

Which account type should I choose?
You choose an account type when you sign up. It decides what you see in the app.

| Buyer | You buy visibility for your own brand or site. | Marketplace, Strategy Builder, Comparator, campaigns, cart, orders, quotes, wallet. |
| Agency | You buy for several clients. | Everything a Buyer has, plus a Clients area, a budget per client campaign and a negotiated rate if HIKALINK grants you one. |
| Publisher | You own media and want to sell placements. | A publisher area to list your sites, receive orders and request payouts. |
You can't buy your own listing. If you want to both sell and buy, use two accounts with two different emails.
Your first order in six steps
- 1Top up your wallet. Every purchase is paid from your wallet balance (see the Wallet & payments guide).
- 2Find a media. Use the Marketplace filters, the Comparator, or let the Strategy Builder suggest a plan.
- 3Add it to your cart. If the media has several placements (e.g. Homepage, Sponsored article), pick the one you want first.
- 4Write your briefing. Give the target URL, the anchor text you want and the angle. The clearer the brief, the fewer revisions.
- 5Check out. The price is reserved in escrow. It leaves your available balance, but the publisher isn't paid yet.
- 6Follow the order in My Orders. When the publisher delivers, check the link and confirm: that's when they get paid.
Keep your work organised
Create a campaign per project or per client, with a budget. When you check out you can attach each order to a campaign, and the campaign page shows how much of the budget is spent.
Your Dashboard gives you the current state of your orders and wallet at a glance. You get an email as soon as a delivery is ready for you to check.
Account and security
- Use a password you don't use anywhere else.
- Your company name and email are shown on your Account page; contact us if you need to change your email.
- HIKALINK never asks for your password by email or chat. If someone does, don't answer and tell us.
